Mitt. DMV, 18, 2, 88-95, 2010

Abstract:

One of the most important trends in modern architecture is striving for free forms which defy the conventional rules of realizability, if not gravity. Such projects require the active cooperation of different partners (architects, engineers, ...). This survey paper deal with several recent developments in applied geometry relevant to this area, where applied mathematics becomes plays an increasingly important role
in the identification and algorithmic solution of problems.
