On Sunday, June 23, 2002, there were two shuttle buses from Salzburg airport and Salzburg railway station to Strobl. The times for these busses were

time place
17:30Salzburg airport
18:00Salzburg railway station
21:00Salzburg railway station
21:30Salzburg airport

Another shuttle took you back to Salzburg on Saturday, June 29, 2002, after lunch. For those persons who wanted to attend the ISIT-conference at Lausanne after Strobl there was a train connection starting in Salzburg at 12.30 (duration: 8 hours).

There is also a bus from Salzburg railway station to Strobl (10.15 - 11.27, 12.15 - 13.27, 14.15 - 15.27, 16.15 - 17.27, choose the bus to "Bad Ischl") which stops in Strobl (station "Strobl Bahnhof") approximately 1km away from the meeting center ("Bundesinstitut"). For a map of Strobl with the Bundesinstitut marked with a big read dot, click here. In order to get from the airport to the railway station there is regular bus connection (O-Bus).

If you come in your own car, follow these directions: from Vienna or Salzburg: Leave the Vienna - Salzburg Motorway A1 (Westautobahn) at exit Mondsee. Follow the signs to St. Gilgen on the Highway B154 and continue on the Highway B158 along the southern bank of the Wolfgangsee in the direction of Bad Ischl. Turn left at the sign to Strobl. For a map of Strobl with the Bundesinstitut marked with a big read dot, click here.

Of course, it is also possible to take a taxi from the airport or from the railway station.

If you want to arrive earlier or depart later, you can stay one additional day before and/or after the conference at the conference location. For fees see here, where EZ means single room, DZ double room, Frühstück breakfast, Mittagessen lunch, and Abendessen dinner. Meals are not included in the room price.

For even longer stays, you could consider the following hotels in Salzburg (some of the following pages may be German-only, sorry).

Except where otherwise noted, all of these hotels are less than 10 minutes walk from Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (the terminal train station), from where busses to Strobl leave.
