Gargoyle Fragment 3D Data

The Gargoyle 3D data set consists of 30 fragments. We provide the raw scan data from the Minolta VI-900 3D laserscanner in CDM format (32 scans for each fragment) and the reconstructed point cloud of each fragment in PCD format (x y z nx ny nz).

Some remarks on the fragments of the gargoyle.

Parts 1,2,3 belong to the head
Parts 4,5,6 belong to the upper body
Parts 7,8,9,10,11,12 belong to the lower body
Parts 13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20 belong to the base
Part 21 is a piece of the ear fitting on part 2
Part 22 is a piece with the gargoyles mouth and fits onto part 3
Part 23 is an eyebrow fitting on part 2
Part 24 is an eyeborw fitting on part 1
Part 25 is part of the eye on part 1 (only partially corresponding fracture surfaces)
The other small parts remain unclassified.
Parts 2,5,6 have been broken again after the initial scans to provide two fragments that have only fracture surfaces.
In total we now have 30 fragments for the Gargoyle 3D puzzle.
If you load all the PCD files at the same time you will see that we provide the data sets such that they are roughly aligned. We do not provide the simultaneous penetration free registration results of all pieces on purpose so that you can have some fun doing that yourself :).

The unbroken Gargoyle was a stone model of size 220mm x 130mm x 160mm.
