Prior to 2004, these research units belonged to the Institute of Geometry, which was established as a scientific institution, but under a different name, in 1867. Research in geometry carried out at the Institute of Geometry is presented in the pages of the two research units mentioned above. School-related activities include educational geometry software and active participation of university members in the teachers' association Fachverband für Geometrie.
